Tess Stevenson

I began my educational journey in the fall of 2013 after graduating from Hamiota Collegiate Institute. Since then, I have completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math and Biology, and am currently finishing up my Bachelor of Education After Degree. I grew up on a farm near the small town of Kenton, MB and understand the importance of community, hard work, and dedication. I have been lucky to be part of the Brandon University community as a student, lab assistant, president of the Education Student Society, and a member of the grad committee.

I am proud to call BU home, and feel extremely grateful for the opportunities I have been given, and the mentors I have become close with. I have always loved being a student and although it will be hard to move out of this position, I am excited to use the skills that I have learned as I pursue a career as an educator. Brandon University will always, always spark fond memories for me, and I am honoured to have been nominated as an Outstanding Woman.

Nominator’s Comments

I would like to nominate Tess Stevenson for an International Women’s Day Recognition Award. Tess is an exemplary student with strong leadership skills. She is president of the Education Student Society (ESS), and is heavily involved in improving the experiences of students in the Faculty of Education. I have personally had many conversations with Tess about the Faculty of Education, her experiences as a teacher candidate, and her hopes as a future educator. She is a kind, reliable, and conscientious person that will be an asset to whatever school is lucky enough to hire her when she graduates in May.
