Alise Gaiser
What education have you taken?
Having received Neelin High School’s French Immersion Program Diploma, I’m now in my third year of a Bachelor of Science Degree at Brandon University. My major is Biology (Biomedical stream) and my minor is Chemistry.
What accomplishments are you proud of?
I am proud of earning the Board of Governors Entrance Scholarship at Brandon University, 2008;
of receiving the Louis Riel Scholarship, 2009;
of having over a year of volunteer experience with Midwifery Services of the BRHA;
of having coached basketball for Neelin High School for four years;
of three years coaching elementary school children at both basketball and volleyball; and
of 32 hours of Emergency Room Volunteer Experience with a medical doctor.
Tell me about yourself/ your background/ your history.
The eldest of three children, I was born on January 16,1990 in Brandon. I am bilingual, fluent in both English and French. I have always enjoyed school and sports, partaking in every sport that my school had to offer. My love of sports also lead me to coach at the high school I attended.
How did you become interested in your field of study?
I have always enjoyed helping others, and volunteer work is a passion of mine. Ever since I was young, I have been interested in the functions of the body and knew that becoming a doctor would be the perfect way to help others.
What is your philosophy in life?
I believe that anything is attainable if enough effort, time and interest are put forward. The most important thing is to not sell yourself short.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
In the future, I see myself being becoming a doctor, staying in Manitoba close to home and raising a family.
