Interim Sexualized Violence Response Protocol

BU Interim Sexualized Violence Response Protocol

This is an interim protocol which clearly articulates how Brandon University will respond to reports of sexualized violence. The protocol has been clarified, refined, updated, and expanded as the work of the Sexual Assault Advisory Group (SAAG) continues to develop policy, protocol and practices for Brandon University. This protocol is respectful of the rights of the individual to consider and pursue legal actions through other relevant laws or policies and acknowledges the right to file a complaint with the Manitoba Human Rights Commission or to pursue criminal charges as desired.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to report any instances of sexualized violence and Brandon University is committed to providing support every step of the way. All reports of sexualized violence are taken seriously and are treated with fairness, dignity and confidentiality for all those involved. We respect and believe that choosing what to report and when to report it are significant decisions for a survivor. Brandon University is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all our students, faculty, and staff and is opposed to all forms of sexual assault, sexualized violence, misconduct, and sexual harassment.
