Consent
At Brandon University, we are committed to creating a culture of awareness around consent for our campus. Consent is freely given, clear communication of an agreement between two people before participating in a sexual activity. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by any person.
To achieve this, we will be offering presentations on consent that convey the following principles:
- Consent is an active process, not silent or passive.
- It is the responsibility of the person who initiates the activity to make sure they have consent from the other person involved.
- Consent is required regardless of relationship status.
- Can’t be given if someone is compromised by alcohol or drugs.
Remember: without consent it is sexual assault.
Tea Consent
If you are still struggling with sexual consent, view the following parody comparing initiating sex with making someone a cup of tea.
