Alternate Format
SAS obtains or creates alternate formats of textbooks and course materials for students with print disabilities or accessibility related needs.
Individual student needs and preferences are taken into account when determining appropriate formats. Alternate formats include:
- Electronic Formats (word or pdf)
- Audio
- Large print
- Coloured paper
- Braille
If you require alternate format materials, submit an online request as soon as possible to ensure you receive your materials in a timely manner. Requests may take up to one week to process.
You will be required to submit copies of your receipts to demonstrate proof of purchase.
Students will receive their requested materials via a secure OneDrive link sent to their BU student email.

Tutoring
One-on-one or small group tutoring may be available for students registered with SAS for some first and second year courses.
Funding for tutoring is available through outside sources, including the Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities (CSG) and Employability Assistance for People with Disabilities (EAPD). Students without funding will be responsible for paying SAS at the end of each academic year for the full amount of tutoring services used.
To access tutoring, please submit an online request. Tutoring services are subject to the availability of a qualified tutor. You will be notified via your BU student email when a tutor is found.
Glean Activation/Re-Activation
Program Cost
SAS offers a Glean license to students on a cost-recovery basis. Students will be invoiced for the cost of the software at the end of each term.
Students trialing the program for a two-week period will not be charged in the event they choose to discontinue use.
Returning Users
If you are a returning student who used Glean previously and wish to reactive your license, simply submit a reactivation request for the Winter 2025 term (Jan.-Apr. 2025).
Reactivation requests must be submitted on a term-by-term basis.
New Users
If you are a new student to SAS or have not used Glean previously, you will be contacted by the SAS Specialist via email to schedule an appointment for training. There are many excellent training tools under the help menu in Glean.
You will also receive an email from hello@glean.co inviting you to use Glean. Simply click the link in the invitation to activate your Glean account.
Once you have set up your account you will need to go to https://app.glean.co/ to sign into the program using your BU email. Bookmark the link in your browser for easy access in the future.
You will have access to the program for a two-week free trial. If you wish to extend your license for the remainder of the term once your trial expires, please complete an activation request.
