Workplace Safety & Health Committee
Brandon University’s approach to workplace safety and health is based on the simple idea that
everyone in the workplace shares the responsibility for safety and health.
Under The Workplace Safety and Health Act (the Act), employers, managers/supervisors, and workers all have duties to help keep the workplace safe.
This system of shared duties is called the internal responsibility system.
In order for the internal responsibility system to work effectively, it is very important that workers are involved in decisions that affect their safety and health. Involving workers has been proven to reduce injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
