How to Access Residence WiFi

Full Network Access – Choose Network “BU_Residence”

Personal Access Key Required – Would have been emailed to you. If you have not received one, contact HelpDesk

Limited Access Available Immediately – Choose Network “BU_ResVisitor”

(no password required – 90 min sess) 

Any personal routers or Ethernet connections will not work.

Trouble Shooting

The IT Helpdesk is your first point of contact for technology-related questions & problems. The IT Helpdesk assists users with BU-supported systems and technologies, and IT information and advice to BU students, faculty, and staff.

During the academic year, the IT HelpDesk is open 8:30 am – 8:00 pm M-Th, and 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Fridays. When students in residence encounter technical difficulties after hours, below are steps to help resolve during evenings and weekends.

Student troubleshoots

  1. Student encounters a technical issue.
  2. Student refers to HelpDesk Portal Solutions to self-assess and troubleshooting.

If urgent (related to time-sensitive academic activities), contact Residence Assistant for basic troubleshooting.

Note

Personal Access Keys change from year to year – if you were in BU Residence prior to the current academic year, your password will not be the same. Please use your most up to date Personal Access Key to ensure that your devices connect to the Wi-Fi.
