Biosafety Committee

In accordance with the University Senate, the Brandon University Biosafety Committee (BUBC) has been mandated to develop relevant policies and approval procedures governing the use of biohazards on campus and review and verify that Brandon University research proposals involving the use of biohazardous materials adhere to the Public Health Agency of Canada’s Laboratory Biosafety Guidelines and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s Containment Standards for Veterinary Facilities.

Animal Care Committee

The Brandon University Animal Care Committee (BUACC) follows the guidelines of the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC), which require that all projects, including inter-institutional projects, whether of a demonstrational, teaching or research nature that involves animals have prior approval of the BUACC before being implemented.

Research Ethics Committee

The Brandon University Research Ethics Committee (BUREC) is a sub-committee of the Senate Research Committee. All research, class projects, undergraduate and graduate theses that involve human participants must receive approval from BUREC before any data collection begins.
