Mail Services

The Brandon University mail room and shipping/receiving dock is located on the main floor of Physical Plant (330B 20th street) and is open Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

INTERNAL CAMPUS MAIL

Physical Plant driver makes a daily round around campus to drop off mail that has been received the previous business day. We also pick up internal and external mail that is ready to be delivered or stamped. Time of arrival to individual departments will be consistent on a day to day basis. Mail will leave Physical Plant no later than 11:00 am daily.

Any internal mail picked up will be delivered the next business day. If urgent we advise staff/faculty to drop off internal mail to the Physical Plant.

To avoid possible mishandling of internal mail, cross off the previous receiver/location of mail on the internal envelopes. Then make your entry below it or the next column of page if applicable, in clear writing.

EXTERNAL MAILOUT

To ensure that your mail gets to its desired location, please make sure labels and printing is legible. We also advise to have on the top left corner a return address as this helps us with returning your mail if it is returned to campus.

Example Return Address:

Name,
Department Name
Brandon University
270 – 18th Street,
Brandon, Manitoba,
R7A 6A9

To avoid any errors with mailouts, mail services will only be responsible for placing the correct postage for external mail.

We request that you separate all Canada, U.S.A., and International mail individually to help the mail room with postage costs as charges are different for each destination.

Brandon University mail services is equipped to handle bulk mailouts, but we please ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice for larger bulk requests.

MAIL COMING IN

To ensure there are no delay for delivery of parcels and letters coming into the University, please have your Full Name and Department (or Residence Box #) as part of the complete mailing address.   Lack of information results in slower delivery times.

DEPARTMENT CHARGES

By default, the mail room will charge accounts according to department name on the return address unless advised otherwise.  Please indicate on external mailings the budget cost center the item is to be charged to.

OVERSIZED MAIL/PARCEL DELIVERY

Any package weighing more than 500 grams (0.5 kg) will be classified as oversized/parcel and will require a barcode shipping label that mail services can provide.

By default, mail services will choose the cheapest option for shipping. This will also be the slowest option of delivery due to its cost. A tracking number is available, with extra charges if the receiver is required to sign for the parcel.

If mail/parcel delivery is time sensitive, please indicate on the package so that our mail services team can inform you of estimated delivery dates for faster delivery services.

PERSONAL MAIL

Personal mail and packages are not to be sent to Brandon University.  Due to a smaller mail sorting area, we simply don’t have the manpower or space to handle personal packages.  Our team will not deliver or mail out personal packages.  The only exception is for those who live in student residence.
