Christopher Byman

Chris Byman obtained B.Mus and M.Mus degrees from Brandon University, studying clarinet performance. Chris has fortunately performed with and conducted ensembles across Canada, and has appeared at the WSO New Music Festival in Winnipeg, the Dark Music Days Festival in Reykjavik, ClarinetFest 2014 in Louisiana, and the inaugural Centric Festival in Lethbridge.  As an emerging composer, Chris enjoys writing for chamber groups and has had the privilege of working with multiple ensembles, including the Brandon University New Music Ensemble, the University of Lethbridge Incanto Singers, and the Vancouver Chamber Choir.  Chris has studied with Sharon Atkinson, Micah Heilbrunn, Cathy Wood, T. Patrick Carrabré (composition), and Wendy McCallum (conducting).  Currently, Chris is a freelance clarinetist and composer calling Winnipeg his home. As well, Chris provides support to music educators and students across the province of Manitoba as a music education sales representative for the Winnipeg-based music company, St. John’s Music.
