Hours of work:

  • May: Approximately 20-35 hours per week
  • June to August: Approximately 35-40 hours per week

Duties:

  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans for a variety of courses within a specific field.
  • Responsible for overseeing camp instructors, preparing supply lists, and set up of classroom.
  • Supervise students of different age groups during classes as well as to/from lunch.
  • Help cover other classes if instructor is absent.
  • Light cleaning in the workspace or classrooms.
  • Assist other staff during busy times.
  • May be asked to take photos as authorized and requested by Program Coordinator or Mini University Team Leader.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Ability to work independently and/or with others effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills and self-motivated.
  • Ability to relate to children and youth, including those from diverse populations.
  • Preference given to current Brandon University Student; nearing completion of an undergraduate degree. Preference may be given to those in the Bachelor of Education degree program.
  • Specialized experience is required. Previous teaching and/or leadership experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Be able to work with minimal to no direct supervision. Working hours may include day, evening or weekend shifts, as needed.
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check. First Aid/CPR (adult/child) certification required.
