DUTIES:

Dr. G. Kennedy is hiring two research assistants to help with ongoing research projects related to mobility, migration, and military service in Canada. Both people will work with First World War Canadian soldier military personnel and census records as he aims to reconstitute the lived experience of veterans and their families. As time permits, the research assistants may help look through other archival sources related to military service in Canada. Dr. Kennedy will provide orientation and training for the research assistants to work with these documents and the associated databases, and there will be biweekly meetings to review progress and answer questions.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified students will have experience in history or related humanities and social sciences disciplines.
  • Basic computer skills including WORD and EXCEL are required.
  • Experience with doing research online is required.
  • Experience with databases, quantitative methods, and/or community research would be an asset.
  • The ability to read French would be an asset (e.g. some census data is in French).
