Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Painter (Journeyperson) under the supervision of the Physical Plant Director, responsibilities encompass a wide array of tasks. These include painting various surfaces both indoors and outdoors, including walls, furniture, and equipment, with a focus on achieving desired colours and consistency through adept mixing of paints and varnishes. Additionally, the role involves the repair and upkeep of diverse surfaces such as drywall, plaster, wallpaper, and tile. Communication with clients regarding scheduling and completion of work is essential, alongside strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations. Ensuring cleanliness, safety, and organization in work and equipment areas is also paramount. Moreover, the Painter will undertake any other related duties as assigned, always mindful of personal skill levels and capacities.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications: hold a minimum of Grade 12 or GED, along with a Journeyperson Painter/Decorator certification recognized by the Province of Manitoba, Department of Labour, and have at least four (4) years of combined experience in commercial and residential painting and decorating. Additionally, they must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and demonstrate the ability to work effectively both within a team and independently.
*NOTE*
This is a full-time, term position until September 5, 2025. This position is subject to a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. These checks must be submitted in accordance with the Policy in order to maintain employment.
