Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager of the Physical Plant, the Carpenter will perform a variety of skilled carpentry tasks, including the manufacturing and repair of millwork, furniture, door hardware, and lock systems; flooring repairs and/or installation; as well as performing preventative maintenance as required. The position may respond to emergency calls, such as fire alarms as directed. The Carpenter is expected to skillfully use a full range of hand and power tools; properly maintain equipment, tools, and materials; maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment; monitor inventory levels and inform their supervisor of materials or parts that may be required. Other relevant duties may also be assigned to this position.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, along with a Journeyperson Carpenter certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba Department of Labour. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in commercial and residential carpentry, or a comparable combination of education and experience, is required. The successful candidate must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license; be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings; and be physically capable of performing all aspects of the position, including bending and heavy lifting. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are essential, as is experience with CMMS systems and basic proficiency in MS Office applications. A physical demands assessment will be part of the recruitment process.

This is a full-time term appointment until September 5, 2025. This position is subject to a Child Abuse Registry Check and Criminal Record Check.
