Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, while working closely with the Athletics Department, this role is responsible for information and marketing for the BU Bobcats and other related BU areas. This includes coordinating media coverage, developing broadcast content, and creating game previews, recaps, and promotional materials. Additional responsibilities of this position include: hiring and training game-day staff; ensuring sponsor and league compliance; completing student-athlete eligibility rosters and supporting U Sports registrations; ensuring accurate statistics and result tracking; managing Athletics web content and social media; designing publications; organizing events; managing video screen content, and other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate must possess at least a 2-year post-secondary diploma in a media or communications program, plus at least 3 years’ experience working in a sports-related institution, or related business experience. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated familiarity with streaming technology, website design, social media, and marketing are considered an asset. Knowledge and understanding of U Sports, Canada West, Canadian Interuniversity Sport, and Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference policies and regulations are desirable. Must be a highly motivated individual with excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. The nature of this position requires flexibility as the work schedule includes non-standard hours of work throughout the sports seasons.
*NOTE*
Please note, this is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension and/or continuation. Position structure and classification will be reviewed at term conclusion. The work schedule consists of a combination of day, evening, and weekend work. Skill based testing may be required.
