We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Student Assistant Supervisor. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the operational aspects of our library during evening hours, managing a team of student assistants, and ensuring efficient circulation and information services for our diverse community of users.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for overseeing stacks management by monitoring physical space capacity; coordinating shelving tasks; and analyzing data for effective collection management. The successful candidate will support student assistants by recruiting, training, and scheduling them to uphold service standards. With the support of the Chief Information Officer, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance management of student assistants and adherence to their Collective Agreement. Additionally, the successful candidate will work circulation desk shifts; handling loans, returns, reference services; and patron inquiries, including assisting with fines, coin machines, copiers and printers; along with other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate must possess a 2 – 3 years’ post-secondary diploma or equivalent. Diplomas in library or information technology are preferred. Three (3) years of related academic library experience or a comparable combination of education and experience is required. Experience supervising members within a bargaining unit along with experience interpreting a Collective Agreement is preferred.

Shifts will be scheduled for a variety of hours, including evening and weekends. Skill-based testing may be required as a part of this recruitment process.
