Nanjing University of Finance and Economics
Agreement for Undergraduate Transfer Program
Between Nanjing University of Finance (P.R. China) and Brandon University (Brandon, Manitoba, Canada)
WHEREAS the parties believe that the educational process at their respective institutions would be enriched and the learning experience of NUFE students in BU can improve their competitiveness in the job market through the establishment of this cooperation agreement;
WHEREAS the parties intend to establish a long-term relationship of cooperation that will enable undergraduate students at NUFE to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from BU upon completion of this program;
THEREFORE in consideration of the following terms and conditions, the parties hereby agree as follows:
1. Commencement and Duration
This Agreement shall commence on the date that the final signature is affixed. The terms and conditions of this agreement will remain in effect for five (5) years from that date, subject to annual review and modification by agreement of both parties. The Agreement may be terminated prior to that date by either party giving twelve (12) months written notice to the other party, or where an earlier termination date is mutually agreed upon. In the event of termination, the respective parties will honour all commitments to students participating in the program.
2. Method
After completing the courses of the previous two years, registered undergraduate students of NUFE may come to BU to study for two or more years. They must attain at least 60 credit hours and fulfill the requirements of the intended Bachelor’s program to be awarded a degree by BU.
3. Tuition and Student Fees
3.1 Tuition
BU agrees that all students of NUFE who participate in this program will be exempted 10% to 50% of the differential fee for international students. See Appendix I for details. To celebrate the first year of cooperation between NUFE and BU, students of NUFE who are admitted to begin studies in September 2007 will be exempted 35% to 75% of the differential fee for international students, depending on the number of students. See Appendix II for details.
3.2 Student Fees
In addition to tuition, students of NUFE will pay the BU student fees. See Appendix III for details regarding these fees and their amounts.
4. Conditions for Admission
4.1 Students participating in this program must be registered undergraduate students, successfully completing all the courses of the first and second academic year at NUFE.
4.2 Students must meet BU’s English language proficiency requirements (i.e. a score of 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based on the TOEFL test, a score of 6.5 on the IELTS, or an acceptable score on another test recognized by BU). Students unable to meet the requirement for English language skills must enrol in BU’s English for Academic Purposes program and successfully complete level 4 before beginning regular university courses at BU.
5. English for Academic Purposes
Brandon University will provide English language training for students of NUFE who do not meet the English language proficiency requirement. Successful completion of level 4 EAP will enable students to meet the language requirement, will promote them to regular student status and will grant them admission to the degree program of their choice, provided all other requirements have been satisfied. Please see Appendix IV for details.
6. Contact Persons
Each institution will designate an individual who will serve as the contact person for this Agreement. The contact personnel will be responsible for coordinating the specific requests of the program, preparing and distributing reports on the progress of the program, and advising and assisting students.
