Chris is currently the Associate Vice-President of Indigenous Initiatives. He joined Brandon University in 2016 as the Director of the Indigenous Peoples' Centre and assumed the role of AVPII in August 2023.

Chris was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but moved to Manitoba prior to his first birthday. He grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba, where he completed his high school education. Following high school, Chris attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with a B.P.E and MSc. Chris had intentions of becoming a high school teacher however, his experience as a university student changed his goals, and he knew he wanted to pursue a career in post-secondary education.

Chris is a proud member of the Red River Métis Nation. Throughout his life, traditional teachings were passed to him through experiences with his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and family. Chris is the second child of Alan and Judy Lagimodiere and has an older brother, younger brother, and younger sister. His parents would often take him fishing, hunting, picking berries, and harvesting firewood. These activities were often followed by family around the dining room table, laughing and telling stories. Chris is married and has two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, along with two nieces and one nephew.
