BU Teachings House

The BU Teachings House brings community together to learn from one another, with initial teachings and circles led by local Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Elders.

With different teachings each month, members of the campus and broader community are invited to gather, listen and share.

Every year around February and March, Brandon University makes a special effort to celebrate the excellence of our Indigenous students, faculty and staff, as well as Indigenous excellence throughout the community.

Truth & Reconciliation Week

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, to commemorate the history and ongoing trauma caused by residential schools and to honour survivors, families and communities who continue to grieve for those who were lost.

Pulling Together: Manitoba Foundations Guide

This guide was adapted and developed as a resource for educators and for anyone who wants an introduction to the Indigenous Peoples in our area, as well as the history and effects of colonialism and steps that we can take to decolonize. It is the result of many local Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members, and Indigenous organizations ‘pulling together’.

Indigenous Curriculum Collection

The Indigenous Curriculum Collection is located on the main floor of the John E. Robbins Library, and contains materials intended to help teachers Indigenize their lessons and teaching.
