Homecoming 2024 (BU125)

Brandon University’s Homecoming 2024 kicked off our 125th anniversary — a year-long celebration of who we are, where we live, and what we do.

We cherish our history. Brandon College was founded in 1899, building on years of earlier education efforts both here in Brandon and in Rapid City. Of course, we are mindful that education in this area long predates colonization, and we are continuing to both make amends for the role that educational institutions have played in harming relations with Indigenous peoples, and to learn from Indigenous wisdom and worldviews that have been neglected in Western approaches to education

In the contest of Indigenous histories, 125 year is not that long. Nevertheless, for Brandon College and Brandon University, it is an important milestone, and Homecoming was an exciting birthday party to mark the occasion.
