Passwords on BU Accounts must include all of these requirements:

• must be a password you have not used before at BU. (Unique)
• at least 1 uppercase letter
• at least 1 lowercase letter
• at least 1 numeric character
• at least 1 symbol
• it cannot contain any part of your full name or BU Account username.
• Student account passwords must have a minimum length of 8 characters long.
• Staff/Faculty account passwords must have a minimum length of 15 characters long.

Letters (alpha characters) are: Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss, Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz

Numeric characters are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0

Symbols are  ` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ – + = { } [ ] \ | : ; ” ‘ < > , . ? /
