Information for Families
Brandon University encourages families to be interested in the university experience. Having a child or family member attend university for the first time is exciting but can also be stressful. We want to ensure you have access to resources to assist during this transition.
Please note that Brandon University is bound by FIPPA and PHIA Acts to ensure the confidentiality of student records. Parents and supporters may be granted access to student information and records with the express consent of the student themselves. Students who wish to grant access to some or all of their student record (including tuition fee balances) can consent to this by completing the Authorization to Release Information & Proxy Consent Form and submitting it using their official BU student email address.
Admission
Information on admission requirements and high school courses needed for various degrees can be found on our Admissions website. When you are ready to apply, follow the steps to apply on the Apply website. Applications open on October 1 each year for admission the following fall – we suggesting applying no later than mid-February to get in on the most scholarship opportunities. If you have questions about how to apply or questions about your offer of admission, please contact the Admissions Office at Admissions@BrandonU.ca or 204-727-7356.
Acceptance
Offers of Admission are emailed to the email address applied with. If your student has received an offer of admission, they should visit the Accepted Student website for all their next steps, including set-up of their BU login (which will be required to register for classes and apply for scholarships – links for which are also on the Accepted website) and set-up of the BU email. BU email is important as this is how most communication is sent to students from the University.
Does your student need help navigating the new tech at BU ? Visit this link: Basic Computer Skills Help (claim ID, Student Email, Student Portal, Moodle and more).
Scholarships and Bursaries
Be sure to check out the scholarships and bursaries available for first-year students. Or contact our Scholarship Office at Scholarships@BrandonU.ca or 204-727-9737. Some scholarships students are automatically considered for upon admission to BU, and some require an additional scholarship application. Students must be accepted to Brandon University and need their BU login before they can apply for scholarships.
Payment of Tuition
Tuition is due on the first day of each semester. Your family member can pay in person or online. It is recommended to pay at least a week prior to the start of classes. Questions? Contact Financial and Registration Services at FinReg@BrandonU.ca or 204-727-9724.
Need a Verification of Enrolment? Students can find this document in their Student Portal (see below) once they have registered for courses.
Student Portal
The Student Information Portal has a direct link from the main BU website under Student Resources. Once students have been admitted and claimed their ID, students will be able to login here to access their timetable, financial information (including tuition charges and a verification of enrolment document), scholarship application, and more. This is a direct link: Student Information Portal
