Required Documents – International Applicants
Learn about the supporting documents that are required to complete your application. Note that the Admissions Office may request additional documents not specifically listed on this page.
1. High School Graduate
Official High School Transcript:
- If you have graduated from high school, send an official final transcript showing graduation. Visit the High School Requirements page for specific documents/admission requirements by country.
- If you completed the GED/CAEC (Grade 12 Equivalency) send the original transcript.
Avoid Application Fraud: If you have attended any post-secondary institution, you cannot be evaluated for admission on high school alone. Declare all post-secondary education in your application. 2. Transfer
Official Transcript(s) from All Post-Secondary Institutions Attended:
International applicants must submit official transcripts directly from the degree granting institution, Examination Authority or from the applicant providing the transcript remains in the sealed envelope from the institution. Transcripts not in English must be translated by a certified translator along with a note indicating they received documents in a sealed envelope. The original official transcript and the translation must be sent to the Admissions Office directly from the translator.
We also accept World Education Services (WES) course-by-course academic credential evaluation reports, received directly from WES.

3. Previous Degree/College Diploma
Official Transcript(s) from All Post-Secondary Institutions Attended:
If you have already obtained a university degree and are planning to pursue a second degree, send an official transcript showing coursework and conferral of degree from the institution, as well as transcripts showing all coursework completed from any other post-secondary institutions attended. An interim transcript is acceptable if the program of study is close to completion. A final transcript showing evidence of degree will also be required after completion of the program.
The minimum academic admission requirement for most second degree programs in the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Science is a 2.0 CGPA.
If you have a college diploma, send an official transcript showing that you having completed or will be completing the program. If your program is in progress, a final transcript will also be required after completion of the program.

4. Visitor
Letter of Permission:
Applicants who intend to transfer Brandon University credit elsewhere must obtain a Letter of Permission from the Registrar of their home institution to guarantee transfer credit for courses taken. The Letter of Permission must be submitted with the application for admission and should indicate either the date when the letter will expire or the list of approved courses to be taken.
5. Exchange Student
Letter of Recommendation/Approval:
Students who would like to attend Brandon University as part of an approved exchange program must submit a letter of recommendation and approval for exchange, from the home institution.
Students who meet all of the following criteria may apply to attend Brandon University as part of an approved exchange program:

- Attend an international institution with which Brandon University has a formal exchange agreement or apply through a recognized exchange program in which Brandon University participates (e.g., National Student Exchange);
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 (or equivalent) at their home institution;
- Meet Brandon University’s English Language Proficiency Requirement; and
- Be recommended by their home institution to participate in the exchange.

6. Advanced Placement (AP)
Official High School Transcript:
- If you are currently in high school, send your application, application fee and interim high school transcript. A final high school transcript is required once you graduate from high school.
- If you have graduated from high school, send an official final transcript showing graduation.
Accepting transfer credit for Advanced Placement is voluntary. Students must apply for transfer credit by submitting an AP/IB Transfer Request Form to the Admissions Office by the first day of class. Transfer credit for Advanced Placement is granted in specific subject areas, provided that a minimum score of 3 is achieved. The Faculty of Science requires a minimum grade of 4 for transfer.
Depending on the grades attained, students who have completed one or more Advanced Placement courses may also be eligible for scholarship funding in addition to any other entrance awards they may receive. Such students should provide the Scholarships and Awards Office with an official AP transcript.

7. International Baccalaureate (IB)
Official High School Transcript (International Baccalaureate Diploma):
- If you are currently in high school, send your application, application fee and interim high school transcript. A final high school transcript is required once you graduate from high school.
- If you have graduated from high school, send an official final transcript showing graduation.
Students with an International Baccalaureate Diploma with an overall score of 24 points are considered to have the equivalent of Manitoba High School Graduation for purposes of admission to Brandon University. The IB Diploma must contain at least three Higher Level courses, with the remaining courses being either the Higher Level or the Standard Level.
Students taking Grade 12 along with the IB Diploma or IB subjects will be considered for admission on the basis of their regular Grade 12 subject areas. A minimum score of 4 is required on each higher level IB course to be considered for possible transfer of credit.
Transfer credit is voluntary and students eligible to receive transfer credit must submit the AP/IB Transfer Request Form to the Admissions Office by the first day of class.
Depending on the grades attained, students who have completed one or more IB courses may also be eligible for scholarship funding in addition to any other entrance awards they may receive. Such students should provide the Scholarships and Awards Office with an official IB transcript.
8. Graduate Students
Official Transcript(s) from All Post-Secondary Institutions Attended and Other Documents as Required by Program:
If you have already obtained a university degree and are planning to pursue a graduate degree, send an official transcript showing coursework and conferral of degree directly from the institution, as well as transcripts showing all coursework completed from any other post-secondary institution(s) attended. For some programs, an interim transcript is acceptable if the program of study is close to completion, and then a final transcript showing evidence of degree will be required after completion of the program.
