Historical Perspective
In February 1989, I migrated east to set up a ranching operation in the Souris River Valley with my partner. We named our farm Buck Valley Ranch. We had twenty years of great adventures raising registered Red Angus cattle. Recently, I semi-retired to live in a condo development in the City of Brandon. My hobbies and interests lie in the following: canoeing, walking, cycling, cross-country skiing, travelling, bird watching, gardening, hummingbird banding, Wheat Kings’ hockey, cat watching, digital photography and precious time spent with my sister and her family. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of some great nieces and / or nephews to spoil.

SPECIAL RESEARCH PROJECTS
¨ November, 2006 “ Student Teachers Teaching Teachers”. The staff at Valleyview School expressed an interest to have a cohort of student teachers and a faculty supervisor assigned to their school in order to partner with the University to pilot a model for professional development using Sandy as the facilitator and trainer of the Digi-Block program in 5 classrooms.
¨ “Implementing SMART Technology into Grade 6 Classrooms” (2006-2008) Five teachers from Brandon School Division, Shannon Gadbois, Brandon University, and Sandy Margetts participated in a three year Crystal Grant project to install SMART Technology in each classroom and to develop science lesson plans to use in each classroom. In addition, several professional development sessions were included in the project.
¨ “First Steps in Math” (currently). Plans are under way to conduct a pilot project and a professional school model to train a cohort of pre-service teachers in a math recovery program with the Brandon School Division.
