Student Work Placement Program-(SWPP)
CEWIL Canada-works to create and deliver work-learning opportunities for students in high demand industries such as science and technology, engineering, mathematics, and business. Creating a database of resources and plans for Co-operative Education Programs and employers to work together.
Biotechnology or healthcare - BioTalent Canada
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy – up to $7,500
- Eligibility: Work term position needs to have a focus on biotechnology or healthcare focus or the employer needs to have a focus on biotechnology or healthcare.
- Program Updates:
- Employers and positions can be pre-approved for funding before employers finalize their selection of students to hire.
- Post-secondary institutions (universities, colleges and polytechnics) can be the employer of record to offer meaningful
placements to students.
- The requirement to hire above your organization’s co-op/student hiring baseline has been removed.
- Back-to-back placements can be funded.
- Students can work from home.
Agriculture industry in STEM or as a business - Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy – up to $7,500
- Eligibility: Must be a business or STEM faculty.

Programs in aviation or aerospace - Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace (CCAA)
- Amount:
- 50% wage subsidy- up to 5,000 per placement or
- 70% wage subsidy – up to $7,000 for first time placement or under-represented groups including women in STEM, Indigenous students, persons who identify as visible minorities in Canada, persons with disabilities and recent immigrants (i.e. permanent residents).
- Eligibility: Canadian organizations in the industry of aerospace and aviation.

- Eligibility: Non- governmental organizations in Canada within the cultural sector, both for-profit and non-for-profit. This includes:
- live performing arts
- writing and publishing

- film, television and broadcasting
- digital media
- music and sound recording

- Amount:$5,000 – $7,000
- Eligibility: Organizations in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and supporting service organizations.
Environment related industries in STEM- Environmental Careers Organization of Canada(ECO Canada)
- Amount:$5,000 – $7,000
- Eligibility: Organizations in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and supporting service organizations. For employers looking to hire students in STEM. Work terms must be a minimum of 6 weeks long.
Canada’s manufacturing or sub-sectors- Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC)
- Amount:
- 50% wage subsidy per new placement up to $5,000
- 70% wage subsidy for students from underrepresented groups (first-year students, indigenous people, persons with disabilities, recent immigrants, women in STEM, visible minorities) up to 7,000
- Eligibility: Canada’s manufacturing and related sub-sector and supply chain employers (i.e. North American Industry Classification – NAICS codes 31-33)
Food and beverage manufacturing industries- Food Processing Skills Canada
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: For food and beverage manufacturing related industries.
Digital or technological related work terms - Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC)
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: For registered Canadian businesses in the sectors of intelligent retail, fintech, advanced manufacturing, entertainment and gaming, connected transportation, e-health, cybersecurity, big data, or clean tech. Must offer a new student position that is full time during the work term.

Canadian business or non-profit organization - Magnet
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: For registered Canadian businesses in the sectors of intelligent retail, fintech, advanced manufacturing, entertainment and gaming, connected transportation, e-health, cybersecurity, big data, or clean tech. Must offer a new student position that is full time during the work term.

Canadian-owned business or Canadian subsidiary in the mining industry- Mining Industry Human Resources Council (MiHR)
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: Employers that are Canadian-owned or a Canadian subsidiary
company involved in mining or mineral exploration.
For employers in the technological industries- TECHNATION
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: Employers that are Canadian-owned businesses or non-profits who can provided students with a tech-focused work placement.

Canadian truck transportation and logistic industry-Trucking Human Resources Canada
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: Organizations within the truck transportation and logistics industry. The placement must be in the trucking or logistics sector or fulfilling a trucking and logistics job function.
Tourism and hospitality sector- Tourism HR Canada
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500
- Eligibility: Employers representing all facets of the visitor economy: accommodations, food and beverage services, culinary, recreation, entertainment, culture, events, transportation, travel services, and more.
Startups or related entrepreneurial projects- Venture for Canada
- Amount: 75% wage subsidy or up 7,500 specifically available for under-represented groups including women in STEM, Indigenous students, newcomers, and persons with disabilities, as well as first-year students.
