The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Research Analyst position within our Early Learning and Child Care Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. The Research Analyst will be required to administer the conduct of research and analysis on a range of early learning and childcare issues. The central tasks will consist of project coordination, data collection and compilation, and leading the analysis of research.
Job Duties/Competencies:
• Responsible for conducting literature reviews in support of projects;
• Collect, compile and present comprehensive reports for research conducted and suggested policy;
• Participate in the design, development, analysis and evaluation of various components of early learning and child care issues;
• Lead the analysis of a broad range of early learning and child care issues in order to identify their implications as they relate to the adaptation of ELCC programs and services;
• Recruit and interview subjects;
• Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary;
• Attend seminars and other meetings as they relate to the project;
• Draft articles, reports and presentations regarding research findings.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Completion of a relevant graduate degree;
• Experience with all phases of a research project, both qualitative and quantitative research;
• Experience with survey data collection and individual open-ended interviews;
• Experience drafting technical and academic reports, and brief non-technical reports for the general public;
• Experience with literature searches and retrieval;
• Experience in knowledge translation is an asset;
• Experience in grant writing is an asset;
• Training on multiple research and statistical analysis software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office;
• Ability to work within time and budget constraints;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
