Position Conditions: This is seasonal position will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. First consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position.
Rate of Pay: $15.80 per hour (2023 Rate)

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the general direction of the Recreation Hub Programmer, the incumbents will be required to lead and oversee the activities of the Recreation Department. Recreation programs and activities which will enhance both life and social skills of the recipients in an active, fun & safe environment. Activities could include but are not limited to swimming, skating, team sports, arts & crafts, music & dance, cultural education, outdoor exploring, etc.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, supervise and participate in program activities under the direction of the Recreation Program Assistant;
- Provide leadership and direction to the participants and show enthusiasm;
- Provide a safe, cooperative and enjoyable environment for program participants;
- Adjust program activities to accommodate a variety of group sizes, interests and participant skill levels;
- Implement the evaluation plan and submit a final report on the program;
- Ensure public health guidelines are adhered to at all times;
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Emergency First Aid/Level C CPR (to be obtained upon hire);
- Successful completion of a Criminal Reference Check and Child Abuse Registry Check;
- Related experience in recreation, programming, education, instruction, sports background;
- Previous experience working with children;
- Previous experience working in a multi-ethnic setting.
