Public Open House – March 9, 2017
Public Open House invitation
Brandon University is making its Mark on the City!
Brandon University is excited to invite you to an Open House event on March 9th, to engage in a conversation about the Campus Master Plan and Space Plan, and now, including the Brandon University Downtown Initiative. This is an exciting time for the University as they move forward with two very significant and progressive initiatives. In 2016, the University embarked on the development of a Campus Master Plan to guide the evolution of the physical campus for the next 20 to 30 year time horizon. This is the first comprehensive Master Plan and Space Plan for the campus in over 50 years. It includes the development of a Master Plan document that includes a compelling Concept Plan Vision, Guiding Principles, and Policy Frameworks to direct the implementation of the Plan over time. It also includes the development of a Space Plan that addresses the utilization of internal building spaces, and building facilities, in line with the overall Master Plan Vision.
The University has now embarked on a plan to establish a presence in the heart of Downtown Brandon. This will entail the acquisition of properties to form a consolidated parcel of nearly 70,000 square feet of land for future development, located on the 100-block of downtown Brandon, between Ninth Street and 10th Street. This is an exciting development that will be transformative for both the University, the downtown area, and for the entire city. This new initiative opens the door to a multitude of opportunities including: advancing the University’s Academic Plan; enabling the implementation of the Campus Master Plan; and meeting student and senior housing needs. This initiative will be catalytic for the future of downtown Brandon as it represents one of the most significant developments for the University and City in several decades.
We are excited, and we want you to help in the process of shaping and guiding this new direction for the University!
In a Public Open House forum, we will be presenting the contents of the Draft Campus Master Plan document as well as the first stage of analysis and opportunities for the downtown property. The content will be articulated through compelling visuals and explanatory annotation, displayed on interactive panels, which provide a means for participants to engage in discussions with the Consultant Team. We are looking to garner as much feedback as possible in order to refine the Draft Campus Master Plan document, as well as provide direction on the future of the downtown property.
