Council 2023-2024

Leeanne Gerry – President
Leeanne Gerry is a fourth year Music Education student in the instrumental stream.  She plays the clarinet and is studying chemistry as her second teachable subject area. Aside from her obvious love of music, she loves to read and practically lives off coffee. 2024-2025 marks Leeanne’s third year on council, and her first year serving as BUSMEA’s President. Leeanne is very grateful for the opportunity to be BUSMEA’s 2024-25 president and is excited to provide valuable contributions to the BU school of music this year with the BUSMEA executive team.

Mya Kristjanson – Vice-President

Mya Kristjanson is a fourth year music education student in the elementary stream. This is her second year on the BUSMEA council, and her very first year as Vice President! Mya is a saxophone player who is studying French as her second teachable area. She loves spending time outside, hanging out with her family and friends, and listening to Taylor Swift. She is very excited to become a teacher, and she is looking forward to another year on BUSMEA council.

Kaylee Carlson – Secretary

Kaylee is a fourth-year piano major studying in the instrumental stream. This is her first year on council, serving as the secretary. Aside from music (especially the country genre), Kaylee enjoys shooting archery, riding horses, and reading. She is looking forward to bringing fun professional development opportunities for the students at BU this year!

Kaitlyn Greigson – Treasurer

Kaitlyn is a second year Music Education student in the Senior Instrumental stream. She is a classical piano major and this is her first year as BUSMEA council treasurer. When not playing music, Kaitlyn can be found figure skating at the rink, playing video games with friends, or teaching swimming lessons. She is looking forward to serving on council throughout her degree!

Kendra Martinussen – Corresponding Officer
Kendra is a fifth year Music Education student in the instrumental stream. She studies jazz saxophone and loves to relax with a cup of coffee and a vinyl playing. This is Kendra’s third and final year on the BUSMEA council as the Corresponding Officer and she is very excited to bring you the weekly BUSMEA eNews!

Kendalyn Penner – Media Relations Officer

Kendalyn is a fourth year Music Education student who loves to take part in and teach choirShe is a voice major and is super excited to conduct choirs one day.  Kendalyn enjoys baking pastries and has more plants than any one person should ownThis is Kendalyn’s second year on the BUSMEA council as Media Relations Officer and she can’t wait to bring more choral education opportunities to Brandon University School of Music.

Cade Zacharias- Third Year Representative

Cade is a trombone major in his third year in the music education program. His most recent endeavours include leading an army of garden gnomes in Neepawa in the heroic fight against the mischievous intentions of pranksters and travellers. Mav City Music and Christifari are some bands he enjoys listening to (anything but country am I right). He is excited to fulfill his lofty roles of third year representative in the 2024 – 2025 BUSMEA council!
